DIVORCE

Olivia's parents go through a divorce. It's tough on Olivia and she misses a couple of weeks of school. Researchers at the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health and Monash Faculty of IT's Action Lab have developed an online parent program, 'Partners in Parenting', to help reduce teenagers' risk of common mental health problems. Olivia's parents use it to get tips to encourage Olivia to go back to school.

MOVING OUT

After graduating, Olivia moves into a share house with two friends. It’s in a new development based on the 20-minute neighbourhood model developed by researchers and local government. Even though she occasionally heads into the city on weekends, everything she needs is within a 20-minute walk.

HEART DISEASE

Olivia experiences heart disease, once Australia’s #1 killer of women. Luckily huge advances in the treatment of cardiovascular disease have been made since the establishment of the Victorian Heart Institute at Monash University. A wearable device helped her notice irregularities in her heart data to assist in diagnosing the issue. She worked with her GP on a Personalised Treatment Plan, which accommodates her hobbies like hiking and skiing.
